Historical Review
When the World Rally Championship began in 1993, the Toyota team Europe, champions of last season, was ready to challenge their opponents fearsome Lancia, Ford, Subaru, Mitsubishi and many other teams. Monte Carlo that promised to be very exciting. The sophisticated vehicle that was involved was a Toyota Celica GT-Four RC, at the wheel of which sat the driver Didier Auriol. From the first run demonstrated its magnificent performance, as it remained in first place throughout the race. Considered one of the most technologically advanced cars and more powerful the rally, the Celica GT-Four RC has a turbocharged 2-liter engine, liquid cooled, 4 cylinder, DOHC, 299cv and torque strength of 45.9 kg / m. All this power is channeled through a six-speed four-wheel drive. Electronically controlled in normal circumstances the power is distributed in equal proportions (50/50) to the front and rear wheels, but also has the ability to automatically switch to other proportions when a sensor detects a change in the road surface or even in the driving mode. The nightly special equipment for the Monte Carlo rally included four projectors, in addition to the lights in the corners of the car. No doubt that with them the appearance of the Celica was even more impressive!
