Sapper of Foot Grenadiers of the Guard 1806-7 Bearskin cap ribbon and flares, red-silver instead of red-gold. Epaulettes, red instead of red-gold Trooper’s sabre-briquet, instead of the traditional Sapper’s saw-sabre with cock’s head. Axes on the sleeves and tails: red on gold instead of gold on red. Since the cockade on the bonnet is not showing the symbol of an eagle this uniform shall be considered anterior to 1807. Otto’s table has been elaborated by Lucien Rousselot as per table 63, with the only modification relative to the colour of the ribbon and the flares of the bonnet. The following painting description refers to the scheme indicated by Rousselot.
